N.V Riddler’s Run Sparkling Brut (Methode Champenoise)

Blend of Pinot and Chardonnay grape varieties made in the traditional method involving secondary bottle fermentation and kept on lees for a minimum of 18 months.

Delicate and fruity, this sparkling wine is eminently drinkable with a good soft texture, lots of lovely fine bead and length on the palate.

A lovely aperitif or serve with your favourite canapes, hors d’oeuvres or at the end of a meal with lemon gelati or other light citrussy desserts.

2024 Riesling

The fruit is sourced from the northern Harcourt region of Victoria.

With citrus lemon and floral aromas, this is a lively full-bodied wine showing good balance between fruit and acid. It has elegance and finesse on a long palate.

If cellared carefully, this vintage will age over several years and develop toast and honey characters as it matures.

Great with Asian food flavours and a traditional Veal Schnitzel drizzled with fresh lemon.

Re-introducing an old favourite: Verdelho

Notes:  The Verdelho grape variety comes from the Portuguese island of Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco where it is made into a fortified wine called Madeira.

Verdelho was imported to Australia in 1825 by the Australian Agricultural Company and was first grown in Camden by William Macarthur.  Generally, the cooler grown or early picked examples are leaner and finer, showing citrus fruit, grassy and herb flavours. Warmer grown, riper Verdelho is generally richer, fuller with ripe tropical fruit salad flavours.

Verdelho pairs beautifully with seafood and chicken and also balances the spice of Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian dishes with its fruit weight and concentration.

For a quick and easy dish that pairs excellently with Verdelho, try a Vietnamese summer salad

Little River 2021 Verdelho

These grapes are from Colbinabbin and have been fully ripened and concentrated in flavour during the typically warm, dry Central Victorian summer.

The result is a mid-gold colour with fresh lively fruit aromas. Initially citrus on the palate, persistent tropical fruits follow.

Lovely as an aperitif and a delicious accompaniment to food, as suggested above. Also delicious with nutty cheeses, such as Swiss and Gouda with fresh pear and apple.

Best to drink now although will keep if carefully stored for a couple of years

Little River 2024 Picker’s Blend Chardonnay

Medium straw in colour.

Richly aromatic with ripe peach and pear.

Fresh and fruity flavours are a highlight on a mid-weight, elegant palate. This wine will cellar for 3-5 years and continue to develop in balanced complexity.

Try with a prawn risotto, seafood, Asian rice dishes and creamy pasta sauces.

Deep red with maroon tinges.

This is a classic Australian style – a well-rounded flavoursome red.

With an aroma of black cherries and plums, this has a rich, full fruity palate with soft tannins on the finish.

A fine quaffer – perfect for any occasion.

New Addition: Malbec

Generally, the grapes tend to have an inky purple/red hue and robust tannins and are known to be one of the varieties allowed in the blend of red Bordeaux wine. The grapes are thin-skinned and need more sun and heat than either the Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot to mature. According to Wikipedia, in France, plantations of Malbec are now found primarily in Cahors in South West France, though the grape is grown worldwide. It is also available as an Argentine varietal and is popular in Chile and the Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California, USA.

Malbec is great paired with barbequed meats and rich savoury vegetarian and pasta dishes. Best to avoid sweet flavours as this can make the wine taste sour; opt instead for sharp cheeses.

No matter the occasion or the flavor preferences of the group you’re with, Malbec is always a crowd-pleaser

Little River 2021 Malbec

These grapes have been grown in the Strathbogie Ranges, north-eastern Victoria.

This vintage is rich and dark in colour, full of fruit-driven flavours with some underlying hints of berries. It is smooth on the palate and lively with robust tannins.

Really good drinking now and will cellar for another few years.

Little River 2020 Heathcote Shiraz

The colour is intense ruby red. The nose opens up to berry, plum and white pepper. This wine has a soft fruity palate with mellow acidity and tannins. Spicy plums linger on a gentle finish. This is an excellent accompaniment to char-grilled meats and stir-fry. Perfect for drinking now.

Little River 2010 At Large Reserve Shiraz

It’s not often we can introduce a consummate wine of this vintage and at this stage of its development. Only bottled in 2023, this wine has been so carefully managed and allowed to softly mature in French Oak for 12 years.

The fruit was sourced from the next door region of Heathcote/Colbinabbin in Victoria, a treasure of a place to grow and ripen top quality Shiraz.

It is dark red in colour, with full-bodied, well-rounded grace and charm. There’s cherry and ripe plum, hints of nutmeg and liquorice on the nose, with layered flavours of fruits and spice on a long, juicy palate.

We could wax lyrical about it for ages, we’ve fallen in love with this wine! But our best advice is – just try it, sip and savour it, we think you’ll love it too.

Drink this aged Shiraz now, although it will cellar for a couple of years if you must.

New Addition: Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo produces lightly coloured red wines which can be highly tannic in their youth with scents of tar and roses. As they age, the wines take on a characteristic brick-orange hue at the rim of the glass and mature to reveal other aromas and flavours such as violets, tar, wild herbs, cherries, raspberries, truffles, tobacco, and prunes.

It’s widely believed that Nebbiolo is indigenous to the Piedmont region and has been commented on and critiqued for centuries. In the 1st century AD, Pliny the Elder noted the exceptional quality of the wine produced in the Pollentia region located northwest of what is now the Barolo DOCG zone.

In Australia, winemakers found little early success with Nebbiolo as many of the earliest plantings were inland sites that turned out to be too warm and dry for the grape. Research into cooler-climate sites led to favourable plantings. There are now hundreds of Nebbiolo wines produced in Australia, mainly from Victoria’s north-east regions, the Yarra Valley and South Australia. Australian styles produced can be from very light, almost clear, to dark, rich wines.

Always intriguing, Nebbiolo has attracted some seriously obsessive Australian growers and makers over the years. In most cases, the Australian regions where the variety does best tend to be ones where clouds of fog are not an uncommon sight in autumn and winter – inland and up high.

Little River 2021 Nebbiolo

These grapes have been grown in the Strathbogie Ranges in north-eastern Victoria.

This wine is lightish ruby red in colour with just the slightest hint underneath of a red-orange blush.

Dry and tannic, with smoky aromas of truffle, anise and prunes and well-balanced acidity, this vintage is an intense wine with mixed floral and complex mouth-filling flavours. The wine’s acidity gives it the opportunity to match against fattier foods with saltiness, such as well-seasoned lamb, goat, sausage, rich casseroles and olive oil-based sauces.

This Nebbiolo is good to drink now and will improve with careful cellaring for several years
