Philip & Christine Challen

We established our vineyard in 1986 and made our first wine – a Challen Chardonnay – in 2001, which won a Bronze Medal at the Victorian Wines Show. We’ve subsequently made numerous vintages of award-winning wines from our vineyard, including sparkling pinot and chardonnay blends, wooded and unwooded chardonnays, cabernet sauvignon and cab sav blends. In addition to our estate range, we often source parcels of premium grapes from like-minded growers throughout Victoria in order to produce handcrafted wines demonstrating outstanding varietal style and regional characteristics.

Over the years, we’ve experimented with and introduced into our range such grape varieties as Riesling, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot, Mourvèdre, Shiraz and more recent additions to our portfolio include Malbec and Nebbiolo.

We continue to produce wines with 4 key factors in mind: quality, value, flavour and fun. Our wines are about ambience, made to share with friends and family and are always a wonderful accompaniment to food.”
